Keith Sturghill, 21, had dreams of going to medical school. Now, he is incarcerated, awaiting trial in the death of a 4-year-old boy.
When Keith Sturghill’s house burned down in 2017, he was around 16, still attending York Comprehensive High School in South Carolina.
“We spent 58 days in a motel. He said, ‘Mama, don’t you worry. Stop crying. I’m going to take care of you,'” his mother, Aiesha Rashid said.
Sturghill took a job at Kentucky Fried Chicken.
“The first week, they started talking about grooming him for management,” Rashid said. “He went to work, and he never slowed down after that.”
Sturghill had dreams of working in the medical field.
